Overview

Automation Anywhere is seeking a highly motivated Junior AI/ML Engineer to join the Sustaining Engineering team. This role is ideal for early-career engineers who enjoy solving real-world technical challenges, working directly on customer issues, and building intelligent tools that improve developer productivity and operational efficiency.

The engineer will play a key role in analyzing, diagnosing, and resolving customer-reported issues while ensuring production systems run smoothly. This position acts as a bridge between customers and internal engineering teams, combining strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills.

In addition to troubleshooting complex technical problems, the engineer will contribute to building AI-driven and agentic solutions that streamline engineering workflows, automate troubleshooting processes, and enhance log and code analysis capabilities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Issue Analysis & Troubleshooting

Investigate, analyze, and reproduce customer-reported issues in production or near-production environments.
Debug and analyze application logs, telemetry, traces, exceptions, and service behavior.
Identify root causes and collaborate with senior engineers to develop solutions, fixes, or workarounds.
Clearly communicate technical findings and analysis to internal stakeholders.
Document troubleshooting patterns and findings to accelerate future issue resolution.
Work with customer-facing teams to gather detailed information about production issues.
Maintain proactive communication during issue resolution to ensure customer trust.
Collaborate closely with Support and CloudOps teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.

AI/ML Tooling & Agentic Solution Development

Design, build, and maintain AI-powered engineering tools.
Develop automated log analysis assistants and code-understanding agents.
Create troubleshooting copilots and root-cause analysis recommender systems.
Build intelligent workflows such as automated test generation and code impact analysis.
Develop internal support bots to assist sustaining engineers.
Continuously explore new AI models, frameworks, and techniques to improve productivity.

Technical Troubleshooting & Resolution

Diagnose complex issues across the full technology stack using AI-powered observability tools.
Investigate production incidents by analyzing logs, traces, and application code.
Create well-documented pull requests with fixes and route them to subject matter experts.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure timely deployment of fixes.
Support release processes by validating fixes and contributing to hotfixes or service packs.
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive engineering tasks.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Analyze patterns in customer issues to identify product improvement opportunities.
Contribute to improving observability and monitoring systems.
Document troubleshooting processes to build a comprehensive internal knowledge base.
Participate in post-incident reviews and focus on long-term prevention strategies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Support, CloudOps, Product, and Engineering teams.
Advocate for customer needs while balancing product and technical constraints.
Share insights from customer interactions to support product roadmap and quality improvements.

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

6–18 months of professional experience in product development.
Strong foundation in Python and experience with ML/AI libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or Transformers frameworks.
Understanding of software engineering concepts including debugging, logging, REST APIs, and distributed systems fundamentals.
Knowledge of web application architecture, APIs, and databases.
Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG systems, or agentic workflows is a strong advantage.
Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices.
Ability to debug production code and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Experience creating pull requests and collaborating through version control systems.
Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools is a plus.
