Role Overview

Poshmark is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the Core Platform team and help build reliable and high-performance backend systems that power its global marketplace. The role offers an opportunity to work with experienced engineers and develop scalable cloud-native services used by millions of users every day.

The engineer will contribute to designing and implementing backend services while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative features and maintain platform reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend services that support Poshmark’s marketplace platform.
Collaborate with peers and senior engineers to build scalable, efficient, and maintainable systems.
Write clean, well-documented, and well-tested code following established engineering best practices.
Participate in code reviews and continuously improve code quality through feedback.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across distributed systems in production environments.
Contribute to improvements in development processes, engineering tools, and team workflows.

6-Month Milestones

Gain proficiency with Poshmark’s technology stack, development tools, and codebase.
Deliver production-quality code with guidance from senior engineers.
Take ownership of small to medium-sized components or features.
Collaborate effectively with Product, QA, and Design teams to deliver new features.

12+ Month Milestones

Independently deliver software features from design through production deployment.
Contribute to system performance improvements and scalability initiatives.
Develop a strong understanding of platform architecture and make data-driven technical decisions.
Participate in technical discussions and contribute ideas to enhance platform reliability and efficiency.
Mentor interns or new engineers joining the team.

Required Qualifications

1–2 years of professional experience in backend software engineering, including internships.
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
Proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Ruby, Java, Python, or Go.
Familiarity with RESTful APIs, database technologies (SQL or NoSQL), and caching or messaging systems.
Interest in cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or similar technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
