From Apple Pay and the Apple website to retail infrastructure and global data centers, the IS&T team designs, builds, and maintains the technology that enables Apple employees and customers to operate seamlessly.

The Global Business Intelligence team delivers data services, analytics, reporting, and data science solutions for various Apple business units, including Retail, iTunes, Marketing, AppleCare, Operations, Finance, and Sales. These solutions are built on a powerful data platform using advanced frameworks and modern technologies.

Role Overview

Apple is seeking a Framework Software Engineer to contribute to building next-generation data and machine learning platforms. This role focuses on designing scalable systems, developing custom frameworks, and building tools that enhance Apple’s business intelligence capabilities.

The engineer will develop solutions for data processing, analytics platforms, model management systems, and data visualization tools. The role may involve building systems from the ground up or customizing open-source technologies to meet Apple’s internal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Develop tools and frameworks that support Apple’s data and machine learning platforms.
Build and maintain systems for data processing, insights portals, data observability, and data lineage.
Design and implement solutions for model hubs, analytics platforms, and data visualization services.
Customize open-source technologies or build new systems to meet internal platform requirements.
Extend the functionality of third-party business intelligence tools using APIs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable and reliable platform services.
Deliver high-quality software solutions within project deadlines and technical constraints.

Required Qualifications

Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, or Scala.
Experience designing and developing scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database systems.
Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications using platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with DevOps tools, containerization technologies, and Kubernetes platforms.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional project teams.
Strong sense of ownership and responsibility for project outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Large Language Model (LLM) serving and inference frameworks.
Experience working with tools such as LangChain or LlamaIndex for building retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications.
Understanding of big data technologies and modern data platforms.
Experience with distributed computing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
Familiarity with SQL query engines such as Trino or Hive.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks or libraries such as React.
