Role Overview

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. SRE ensures that Google's services have reliability, uptime appropriate to users' needs and a fast rate of improvement, while keeping an ever-watchful eye on capacity and performance. You will focus on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and eliminating work through automation using expertise in coding, algorithms, and large-scale system design.

Responsibilities

Engage in the complete service life-cycle, encompassing inception, design, development, operation, and continual refinement.
Support services pre-launch through system design consultation, development of software platforms, capacity planning, and formal launch reviews.
Contribute to sustained development, ensuring reliability and minimizing operational toil.
Maintain live services by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health metrics.
Implement incident response procedures to guarantee services meet defined Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
Collaborate with partner teams to identify risks and develop solutions to mitigate adverse impacts.
Seek opportunities to apply emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), to address system engineering challenges.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience with programming in one or more programming languages.
2 years of experience working with administration (e.g., filesystems, inodes, system calls) or networking (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, network topologies, Software Defined Networking).

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
2 years of experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale Distributed Systems.
