AI Data Annotation Engineer

Role Overview

As a data annotator intern, you will play a key role in developing AI systems by creating accurate and consistent annotation for image and video datasets. You will work closely with Computer Vision and AI engineers to prepare datasets used for training, validating, and testing deep learning models. This role is ideal for students or fresh graduates interested in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision.

Responsibilities

• Perform precise annotation of images and videos using bounding boxes, polygons, semantic/instance segmentation, classification, and keypoint annotations.
• Ensure annotation consistency across large-scale datasets by following established labeling guidelines.
• Review, validate, and audit annotations to maintain high data quality standards.
• Identify difficult samples and edge cases, providing feedback to improve annotation guidelines.
• Organize and prepare datasets for training, validation, and testing pipelines.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers to improve dataset quality and model performance.
• Maintain documentation related to annotation processes and quality checks.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of Computer Vision concepts such as object detection, image classification, segmentation, and object tracking.
• Familiarity with annotation tools such as CVAT, LabelImg, Roboflow, Supervisely, or Label Studio.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate annotations.
• Basic understanding of image and video formats.
• Ability to follow structured guidelines and maintain consistency across large datasets.
• Good communication and willingness to learn.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to deep learning workflows or computer vision projects.
• Familiarity with YOLO, Faster R-CNN, or Mask R-CNN.
• Basic knowledge of Python for data handling and preprocessing.
• Previous experience in data annotation, dataset preparation, or image labeling.
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, AI/ML, or Data Science.
