Software Engineer, Trust

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer on the Listing Integrity team, you will work to prevent fraudulent listings by proactively detecting and removing bad actors. You will collaborate with data scientists, designers, product managers, and customer service operations to innovate new ways to stop fraudulent listing creation and mitigate financial losses, protecting Airbnb users from bad experiences.

Responsibilities

• Work with large scale back end systems to detect fraudsters using rules and connecting to productionalized machine learning models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners including machine learning engineers, product managers, operations, and data scientists to refine requirements for fraud detection.
• Build out tooling and automation for operations to more effectively reduce fraud.
• Build user challenges to prevent fraudulent listings while reducing impact on good users.
• Develop data pipelines for machine learning and improve operations tooling.

Requirements

• 3+ years of industry experience building systems at scale, or an MS/PhD in a relevant field.
• Passion for building user-facing products or large backend systems.
• Experience with Ruby, Java, JavaScript, Python, or Scala.
• Ability to write high performance, production quality code.
• Exposure to architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications, such as well-designed APIs, high volume data pipelines, and efficient algorithms.
• Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in the Trust and Risk domain is a plus.
