AI/ML + Full-Stack Developer Intern

Role Overview

AltrusAI is a fast-growing startup building AI-powered, insurance-focused solutions for clients across the globe. We are looking for an AI/ML + Full-Stack Developer Intern who pairs solid software engineering fundamentals with genuine curiosity about modern AI and Machine Learning. This is a learning-heavy role where you will work directly with experienced engineers on real projects, building production-ready, AI-powered applications.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to full-stack applications built with React, Python, and PostgreSQL
• Help design and implement AI-powered features and intelligent workflows
• Work with ML and large language model (LLM) applications — from building to deployment and monitoring
• Learn to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and knowledge-retrieval systems
• Experiment with prompt-engineering strategies and AI orchestration workflows
• Help evaluate AI outputs and improve accuracy, reliability, and efficiency
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver scalable AI solutions

Requirements

• Good programming fundamentals, ideally working knowledge of Python
• A solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving
• A conceptual understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals
• Genuine curiosity about, and some exposure to, LLMs and Generative AI
• Basic full-stack/web development exposure (React or similar, plus REST APIs)
• Strong debugging instincts and the discipline to troubleshoot without over-relying on AI coding assistants
