Role Overview
As a NestJS Backend Developer, you will design, build, and maintain backend services, Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), and microservices using NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions, while supporting event-driven integrations, automated testing, observability, and cloud-based deployments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using NestJS, Node.js, and TypeScript, following modular architecture and clean coding practices.
- Build scalable service layers, define API contracts, and integrate with event-driven flows such as Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
- Support performance, reliability, and production readiness through profiling, diagnostics, logging, error handling, and observability practices.
- Implement secure backend practices, including authentication, authorization, input validation, rate limiting, and secure configuration.
- Contribute to automated testing, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), code reviews, DevOps practices, and continuous improvement of backend services.
Requirements
- Around 3–6 years of backend engineering experience, with practical experience in Node.js, TypeScript, and NestJS; exposure to Express or Fastify is beneficial.
- Experience designing REST APIs, documenting APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI, and working with asynchronous programming, queues, events, or Kafka-based integrations.
- Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases, data modelling, and cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Azure SQL, or Cosmos DB.
- Experience with unit and integration testing, mocking strategies, Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Understanding of performance tuning, caching, resiliency patterns such as retries and idempotency, and distributed or microservices-based systems.
