Software Development Engineer

Role Overview

AMD is looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about building scalable web applications, backend systems, and AI-powered solutions. You will be a member of a core team of talented engineers working on cutting-edge platforms that support AMD's AI infrastructure, cluster management, and automation workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend APIs and services to support AI infrastructure workflows and internal tooling
• Build and maintain web applications and dashboards for cluster monitoring, job management, and performance reporting
• Develop AI agent integrations to automate complex workflows including cluster health checks, issue triage, and customer support
• Write automation scripts in Python and Shell for deployment, provisioning, and operational tasks
• Integrate with distributed systems (Kubernetes, Slurm) via RESTful and GraphQL APIs
• Build data pipelines to collect, process, and visualize AI workload performance metrics
• Design and implement Express.js or FastAPI-based microservices for internal platforms
• Collaborate with AI and infrastructure teams to expose system capabilities through clean API interfaces

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Python — scripting, automation, and backend development
• Experience building RESTful APIs using frameworks like Express.js (Node.js), FastAPI, or Flask
• Proficiency in Shell scripting (Bash) for system automation and DevOps tasks
• Experience designing and developing web applications with modern frontend/backend separation
• Familiarity with AI agents and LLM-based automation (LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Claude API, or similar)
• Experience integrating with Kubernetes or Slurm APIs for cluster-level orchestration
• Knowledge of databases — SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerized deployments
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Strong understanding of Linux environments and command-line tooling
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
