Robotics Hardware & Supplier Engineering Intern (2026 Fall)

Role Overview

As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you will move beyond drawings to engage in hands-on hardware engineering, designing, building, and validating real components for the Pixmo robot. This role is split approximately 50% between hardware design & validation and 50% supplier engineering & co-development, involving deep dives into technologies like battery electrochemistry, BMS behavior, and robotic actuators.

Responsibilities

• Design and prototype mechanical components using SolidWorks, including parts, assemblies, drawings, and GD&T.
• Build, test, debug, and validate systems such as servo motors, robotic arms, end effectors, battery/power systems, vacuum systems, and sensors.
• Optimize designs for performance, durability, manufacturability (DFM), and cost.
• Collaborate with suppliers to turn designs into validated prototypes through CNC machining, sheet metal, and weldments.
• Co-design innovative products and educate the internal engineering team on sourced technologies.

Requirements

• Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Fluent in Mandarin Chinese (spoken and written) for supplier communication.
• Hands-on experience with SolidWorks (parts, assemblies, drawings).
• Strong interest in both technical engineering and supplier-facing technical work.
