Role Overview
As a Software Engineer at Applied Materials, you will dive deep into ground-breaking technologies—like machine learning and AI—to craft novel software solutions that solve our customers’ high-value problems. This role focuses on designing, prototyping, developing, and debugging software solutions for semiconductor equipment components and devices to ensure quality and functionality.
Responsibilities
- Create and/or maintain test automation frameworks that use Playwright and internal tools.
- Create and/or maintain automated tests for the product.
- Maintain test execution setup and monitor/report test results.
- Write test cases and execute manual tests wherever required.
- Use AI technologies such as MCPs, Copilot, and Claude to create AI agents for automating workflows.
- Review and understand product code to provide insight on defects and root causes.
- Create, review, and understand engineering documents including analysis, design, and requirement documents.
- Design general test plans, test cases, and system tests.
- Develop software test documentation.
- Troubleshoot software problems of limited to complex difficulty levels.
- Resolve customer-reported issues by working with customer support and directly with customers.
Requirements
- Ability to work with automation frameworks and testing tools.
- Experience or interest in using AI technologies for workflow automation.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot software problems and perform root cause analysis.
- Ability to review and understand complex product code.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal customers and support teams.
