Role Overview
Atomionics is revolutionizing resource exploration through quantum sensing. Based in the Amaravati Quantum Valley, the India team plays a critical role in the field deployment of Quantum Gravimeters. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design, prototype, test, and refine solutions to improve sensor performance, making them compact and robust for field deployment while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of physicists and engineers.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field trials of atom-interferometry based Quantum Gravimeters, supporting on-site setup and troubleshooting
- Design and assemble mechanical subsystems for Atomionics' quantum sensors
- Support the integration of mechanical designs with electronics, mechatronics, thermal, laser optics, and vacuum components
- Prepare CAD models, drawings, and assembly instructions for manufacture, including CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing, and cable harnesses
- Support DFM & DFA optimization
- Hands-on assembly of precision metal and optical components
Requirements
- Driven individual with creative problem-solving skills and an analytical mind
- Highly skilled with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks
- Deeply knowledgeable in manufacturing techniques, surface finishing, and assembly
- Skilled in GD&T for engineering drawings including tolerance stacks
- Skilled with hands-on fabrication including machining lathe, CNC, laser cutter, and 3D printers
- Willingness to travel 100% for field deployment activities
Nice to Have
- Experience in thermal design, including heat sinks, heat pipes, liquid heat exchangers, peltiers and FEA for thermal simulations
- Experience in designing simple PCBs & cable harnesses
- Experience through a full product development cycle for a device with a complex system architecture
