Software Engineer (Mid-Level)

Role Overview

AxisCare is hiring a full-time, fully remote mid-level Software Engineer to join an autonomous project team working on a market-leading home care SaaS. This is a senior-track position focused on system architecture, software design, and leveraging AI as a core part of the development workflow to build high-quality, reliable software.

Responsibilities

• Build well-scoped features with oversight and mentorship from senior and staff engineers.
• Use AI as a primary tool for prototyping, exploring, refactoring, writing tests, and shipping.
• Push AI tools to their limits and document findings to help map the frontier of development.
• Focus on understanding customer problems and business value rather than just writing code.
• Ship high-quality, maintainable software that is easy to change.
• Manage time effectively to ensure timely delivery of meaningful progress.
• Share learnings and technical insights with the team.
• Maintain clear written communication essential for remote collaboration.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional experience building web apps with a full PHP stack, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience building React applications using TypeScript.
• Working knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and relational databases like MySQL.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Demonstrated, substantive use of AI coding tools in real-world projects.
• Must be based in the US (Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zones) and authorized to work in the US or Canada.

Nice to Have

• Experience with agent-driven development and non-trivial refactors using AI.
• Experience building for cloud-native environments.
• Familiarity with HIPAA-compliant software.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and third-party integrations.
