Role Overview
We are looking for an Android Engineer who brings strong fundamentals, crisp problem-solving instincts, and a genuine curiosity for how devices talk to each other. You will work on the core capture pipeline, own features end-to-end, and help shape how our app integrates with external camera hardware.
Responsibilities
- Design and build features for the Android capture app, owning them from spec to production.
- Integrate and maintain communication with external camera devices over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB.
- Write clean, testable Java/Kotlin code and participate actively in code reviews.
- Debug and profile performance bottlenecks across the networking and media layers.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver polished user-facing features.
- Contribute to improving architecture, tooling, and engineering practices.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of hands-on Android development experience in Kotlin and/or Java.
- Solid grasp of Android fundamentals: Activity/Fragment lifecycle, ViewModels, LiveData/Flow, Jetpack libraries.
- Comfortable with MVVM or MVP architecture patterns.
- Demonstrable proficiency in Data Structures and Algorithms.
- Understanding of networking basics (HTTP, TCP/IP).
- Good sense of UI and Android rendering/animation.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience integrating a third-party external camera SDK (e.g., Insta360, GoPro, DJI).
- Familiarity with OSC (Open Spherical Camera) protocol.
- Experience with Android Camera2 API or CameraX.
- Exposure to 360° / spherical video rendering or stitching concepts.
