Role Overview
The Software Engineer – Instrument Connectivity is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reliable, secure, and compliant integrations between laboratory instruments and LIMS solutions. This role ensures seamless data acquisition, transformation, and transfer from instruments into digital workflows, supporting data integrity and automation in regulated environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support connectivity solutions between laboratory instruments and LIMS platforms using SDKs, APIs, or messaging protocols.
- Parse, normalize, and validate instrument data in formats such as XML, CSV, and JSON.
- Implement error handling, retry logic, and logging to support ALCOA+ data integrity principles.
- Contribute to connectivity architecture and build scalable services or adapters for instrument onboarding.
- Develop solutions compliant with GxP and 21 CFR Part 11 regulations.
- Support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities and documentation.
- Translate logical designs into physical designs and detailed technical documentation.
Requirements
- Experience with instrument middleware or integration platforms.
- Familiarity with message queues or event-driven architectures.
- Experience working in Agile or product squad delivery models.
- Exposure to cloud-hosted LIMS platforms such as LabVantage, Sample Manager, or Benchling.
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for laboratory instruments.
