Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer within BP's Biotechnology team, you will support the technology modernization programme for the biofuels market. You will help build and maintain a strategic platform for certificate management, ensuring bio trades are traceable, compliant, and reconciled. This role focuses on delivering creative technology solutions to support sustainability operations and carbon net-zero goals through increased automation.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain software features to ensure high availability, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with frontend, QA, product, and platform teams to deliver high-quality product changes.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering guidelines.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to reducing technical debt.
• Support platform reliability, performance, and security by following agreed practices.
• Investigate defects, environment issues, and integration problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of software engineering principles, data structures, algorithms, APIs, and databases.
• Understanding of backend services, frontend integration, cloud platforms, and CI/CD.
• Experience with version control and secure development practices.
