The Work

Most backend roles ask you to build dashboards and CRUD APIs. This one is different.

You will be working on a mission-critical Workforce Management Platform deployed in high-security, access-controlled environments, where the software directly governs who enters, who is tracked, and who is accountable at any given moment. The system integrates with physical infrastructure: biometric devices, RFID systems, IP cameras, RTSP streams, face recognition engines, and access control hardware. When it works, it is invisible. When it doesn't, operations stop.

This is a live, production platform used in demanding operational environments. You will be enhancing and scaling it, not greenfielding, which means your decisions carry real consequences for real deployments.

You will work directly with a founding team member. No layers, no ticket queues. Fast decisions, high ownership.

What You Will Own

• Backend services and business logic in Node.js and TypeScript
• REST API design, enhancement, and reliability at scale
• Integrations with hardware and real-world device ecosystems — RFID, biometrics, IP cameras, RTSP streams, face recognition, and access control systems
• Database architecture and query performance on MySQL
• Containerised deployment and environment management via Docker
• Diagnosing and resolving integration and production issues — you are the last line of defence
