Role Overview
Dirmacs is building production AI infrastructure for organisations that need reliable, governed AI agents, not just prototypes or chatbots. As an AI Infrastructure Engineer Intern, you will work across both our internal open-source products and apply them to real production systems, focusing on agent runtimes, memory infrastructure, and reliable deployment.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve AI infrastructure, primarily in Rust
- Work on agent runtimes, memory/context systems, knowledge graphs, tool orchestration, and MCP
- Develop and integrate LLM-powered systems and workflows
- Configure Eruka and related infrastructure for real-world deployments
- Debug production issues and feed findings back into the core products
- Review and improve AI-generated code, focusing on correctness, simplicity, and reusable abstractions
- Write tests, documentation, and deployment tooling
- Take features from design through implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals
- Experience with a systems or strongly typed language; Rust is strongly preferred
- Side projects and passion projects are highly valued
- Ability to read unfamiliar codebases and work independently
- Interest in systems engineering, AI infrastructure, agents, developer tools, or distributed systems
- Strong debugging and problem-solving ability
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot
- Ability to understand and take ownership of AI-generated code
