Data Scientist - AI & Automation

Role Overview

The Finance Innovation & Transformation (FIT) team at eBay is driving the next phase of Finance transformation through process modernization, data, and AI. This role is for a hands-on Data Scientist and AI specialist who will serve as a core developer within FIT, designing, building, and deploying advanced AI, machine learning, and automation solutions for complex Finance use cases. You will develop production-grade models, web apps, intelligent agents, and automation workflows to turn high-value opportunities into scalable capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business problems into scalable technical and system designs.
• Design, build, and deploy production-grade AI, machine learning, and automation solutions using Python, SQL, and modern AI/ML frameworks.
• Develop intelligent agents, web apps, automation workflows, and decision-support tools.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines, model workflows, and reusable solution components.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation.
• Monitor, refine, and scale deployed solutions to improve performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with Finance, Product, Engineering, and ITSS teams to ensure successful delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience building and delivering end-to-end AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation solutions from design through deployment.
• Strong programming and technical skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience handling big data using tools like Hadoop or Teradata.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable, maintainable software and automation solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• 4+ years of experience designing and delivering AI/ML solutions in complex enterprise environments.
