Role Overview
As a Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in both software development and DevOps practices, managing and enhancing our extensive application suite and cloud infrastructure. You will help drive our transformation in cloud infrastructure management and application reliability by developing internal platform solutions and supporting robust engineering operations.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain internal platform services and tooling, including the Internal Developer Platform built on Spotify’s Backstage.
- Develop backend services, APIs, and platform plugins using Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Enable container-based application delivery using Docker and Kubernetes, with a focus on AKS and Azure Container Apps.
- Create features that automate infrastructure and operational workflows using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support consistent, secure, and reliable deployments.
- Support and guide application teams through containerization and modern deployment patterns.
- Debug and resolve complex issues across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.
Requirements
- Strong background as a software engineer building backend services, internal tools, or platforms.
- Proficiency in at least one modern language such as Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Experience designing APIs and systems.
- Solid understanding of software design principles, testing strategies, and code quality standards.
- Experience with Terraform and Ansible.
- Working knowledge of containers and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Git-based CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions or Azure Pipelines.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with CNCF projects such as ArgoCD, Kyverno, and KEDA.
