Role Overview

Guidewire is hiring candidates for the role of DevOps Engineering Intern. This position is based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India with a Hybrid/Work From Home model. The role involves working within the Guidewire Cloud operating model to identify challenges and improve systems through automation and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Understand the sense of urgency in production settings and the implications of system changes.
• Work with internal operational teams to identify improvement opportunities through tooling and automation.
• Ensure milestones are met and maintain strict client SLAs and KPIs.
• Build, automate, and maintain tooling infrastructure in AWS/On-Prem, focusing on Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
• Architect reliable high-availability cluster solutions for development tools.
• Exert technical influence to improve product and system reliability.
• Work in an agile team, handle on-call duties, and support production deliverables.
• Build monitors, dashboards, and log visualizations to collect metrics and improve platform availability and performance.
• Operate development and high-available production environments in AWS.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science.
• Willingness to be flexible and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Working knowledge of building infrastructure software using tools like Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, and Cloud native technologies.
• Good understanding of network paradigms and available stacks.
• Comfortable with Linux system administration.
• Capable of programming/scripting in Go, Python, Java, or equivalent.
• Proficient in analyzing logs and possessing strong debugging skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Agile and systematic approach with a sense of ownership.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in environments utilizing cloud or off-premise enterprise applications.
• Passion for automation over repetitive manual work.
• Understanding of AWS services such as EC2, Route53, S3, and Load Balancers.
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) networking.
