Software Engineer Intern

Role Overview

The Software Engineer Intern role at GoldenHive Holidays is a part-time, fully remote, unpaid internship. The intern will assist in developing and maintaining internal tools and web applications that support trip planning, booking workflows, and customer communication.

Responsibilities

• Writing clean, readable, and testable code.
• Implementing and maintaining back-end features.
• Debugging and resolving software issues.
• Collaborating with senior engineers to improve system performance and reliability.
• Participating in code reviews.
• Contributing to technical documentation.
• Integrating new features based on business and user requirements.
• Learning and working with modern software development tools and frameworks.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a 3-year degree/diploma or equivalent program in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Development, or a related field.
• Students in their 3rd or 4th year are eligible to apply.
• Recently completed students may also be considered.
• Solid foundation in Computer Science, including Data Structures, Algorithms, OOP, and basic software engineering principles.
• Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Basic knowledge of Back-End Web Development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.
• Good attention to detail and willingness to learn new technologies and frameworks.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.
