Systems/software engineer I - RIS - Test

Role Overview

The RIS team is responsible for driving technology leadership in Juniper’s products (MX, PTX, ACX) deployed in some of the world’s largest service provider and enterprise networks. This hybrid role involves driving growth in the routing space by delivering market-leading products through continuous innovation and relentless execution. You will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Responsibilities

• Understand end-to-end regression testing workflows at technology area and platform/product levels.
• Solve complex issues in testing and bring about holistic, long-term solutions for regression testing on networking products.
• Perform high-quality debugging to distinguish between software bugs and other failures.
• Work with Development and Test teams to analyze test coverage and gaps.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify Use Case Coverage gaps.
• Execute test scripts, manage data sourcing/provisioning, and perform defect analysis.
• Ensure proper test result documentation and processes are followed according to the test strategy.

Requirements

• BE/ME/MCA in CS/ECE.
• 3+ years of experience in product test and L2/L3 protocols testing.
• Strong understanding of the OSI Model and TCP/IP protocol suite (ARP, IP, ICMP, IGMP, TCP, UDP, SNMP, FTP).
• Knowledge of routing protocols such as ISIS, OSPF, BGP, QoS, Multicast, MPLS, and VPLS.
• Expert level knowledge in Python and Perl for complex automation.
• Excellent knowledge of test tools like IXIA and Spirent.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Understanding of testing concepts including metrics and defect life cycles.

Nice to Have

• Experience with JUNOS/EVO.
• Experience with Robot Test framework.
• Juniper or Networking certifications.
