Ops Service Engineer (Azure)

Role Overview

This role focuses on the operational excellence of Azure environments, involving planning, deployment, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of high-availability solutions. The engineer will be responsible for incident management, advanced alerting configuration, and driving continuous improvement in operational workflows.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, deploying, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Azure environments.
• Manage high-availability Azure solutions and troubleshoot issues across VMs, App Service, Application Gateway, Front Door, Key Vault, and Container Apps.
• Configure and maintain Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Log Analytics, Action Groups, and alert rules.
• Write advanced KQL queries for analytics, performance insights, and anomaly detection.
• Write and implement Azure policies.
• Implement automated monitoring, alerting, and environment health checks.
• Optimize alerts to reduce noise and increase actionable insights.
• Own and manage the L2 incident queue in ServiceNow with timely triage.
• Respond to system alerts/outages, perform RCA, document incidents, and drive mitigation.
• Maintain and improve incident response playbooks and workflows.
• Participate in on-call/after-hours support for critical incidents.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and communicate incident progress clearly.
• Document monitoring configurations, dashboards, and operational workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise cloud systems.
• 2+ years of experience in implementing and managing Azure cloud/hosting deployments.
• Experience on Terraform Enterprise.
• Azure Administrator Certification (AZ-104).
• Strong experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, KQL, Azure metrics, and Azure policies.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across Azure infrastructure, application services (App Service, IIS/.NET), and databases.
• Good understanding of networking concepts (Layer 3+, subnetting, addressing, VPN).
• Experience with Azure SQL; knowledge of PostgreSQL/Oracle is a plus.
• Familiarity with DevOps concepts and automation toolsets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced production environments with minimal supervision.
• Experience collaborating with teams across Europe and the US.
