Software Engineer Intern

Role Overview

Intellinesia Labs is an independent research lab focused on transforming complex real-world challenges into elegant software solutions. We're looking for an AI-first Software Engineer Intern to contribute to the design, development, and testing of software solutions that support the lab's research initiatives. You'll work primarily in our JavaScript/TypeScript stack, while integrating LLMs and AI frameworks into real workflows. This is a remote internship role, offering flexible collaboration across distributed teams and exposure to research-driven product development.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features across the frontend and backend using our JavaScript/TypeScript stack
• Integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) into product workflows — prompting, tool use, structured outputs, streaming
• Work with AI frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vercel AI SDK, or similar) to prototype and productionize AI features
• Use AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as part of your daily workflow
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews
• Collaborate with mentors and team members across distributed, remote teams

Requirements

• Foundational knowledge of Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Strong fundamentals in JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on experience in a modern frontend framework (React, Next.js, Vue) and/or Node.js backend
• Genuine interest in AI/LLM development — coursework, side projects, hackathons, or personal experimentation all count
• Experience or coursework in software development practices such as version control, testing, and documentation
• Basic understanding or interest in back-end web development, including APIs, databases, and server-side technologies
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with a distributed team

Nice to Have

• Experience with Python and/or Go, especially for AI/ML tooling, scripting, or backend services
• Exposure to vector databases, embeddings, RAG pipelines, or agentic workflows
• Prior internship, freelance, or open-source software experience
