Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to manage the build, deployment, and release automation of Guidewire InsuranceSuite applications (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter). The candidate will be responsible for setting up CI/CD pipelines, managing environments, and ensuring smooth, reliable deployments across development, QA, UAT, and production.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Guidewire applications (PC, BC, CC) using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar tools
- Automate Guidewire build and deployment processes using Gradle/Ant build scripts
- Manage Guidewire environment configurations, server setups, and application deployments across multiple environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod)
- Work with Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP) deployments, if applicable, including understanding of Guidewire's cloud deployment model
- Collaborate with Guidewire developers to manage code merges, branching strategies, and version control (Git/SVN)
- Configure and manage application servers (Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss) and databases (Oracle, SQL Server) supporting Guidewire apps
- Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet) for provisioning environments
- Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting for Guidewire applications (Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.)
- Manage release coordination, deployment scheduling, and rollback strategies
- Troubleshoot build/deployment failures and environment issues
- Support integration deployments (MuleSoft, Kafka, or other middleware connected to Guidewire)
- Ensure security, compliance, and best practices across environments
- Maintain documentation for deployment processes, runbooks, and environment configurations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 3–6+ years of DevOps experience, with at least 1–3 years supporting Guidewire deployments
- Hands-on experience with Guidewire InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter/BillingCenter/ClaimCenter) build and deployment processes
- Proficiency with Gradle, Ant, or Maven build tools
- Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, Bamboo)
- Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, Perforce)
- Knowledge of application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic) and databases (Oracle, SQL Server)
- Scripting skills in Shell, Python, PowerShell, or Groovy
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) — especially if working with GWCP
- Experience with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
- Understanding of Guidewire architecture, configuration layers, and deployment artifacts (JAR/WAR files)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills to coordinate with development, QA, and release teams

Preferred Qualifications
- Guidewire certification (ACE - Associate Certified Engineer) is a plus
- Experience with Guidewire Cloud (GWCP) migrations/deployments

- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible)
- Exposure to monitoring/APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk)
