Software Engineer II - UI + Python Developer + AI / ML

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer II - UI + Python Developer + AI / ML at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank, you'll serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Executes standard software solution, design, development, and technical troubleshooting.
• Writes secure and high-quality code using the syntax of at least one programming language with limited guidance.
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity.
• Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the SDLC toolchain, including AI-assisted development and automation.
• Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems.
• Implements UI instrumentation and telemetry to support observability and performance monitoring.
• Contributes to UI development using approved UI toolkits and component libraries.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and security.
• Experience across the whole SDLC and exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD.
• Strong Python skills with experience building production-grade services or automation.
• Strong UI engineering skills, including building modern, responsive user interfaces and reusable components.
• Experience implementing telemetry/observability (logging, metrics, tracing).

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of AWS Data Source.
• Exposure to Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Experience in providing Level 3 (L3) support for production systems.
• Good to have AI / ML experience (model integration, applied ML workflows).
