Role Overview
Join our Software Engineering team and help build technology that makes a real-world impact. At KITRO, we tackle the global challenge of food waste reduction by harnessing the power of technology and using it for sustainable change. As a Software Engineer Intern, you'll work on real product features, collaborating with experienced engineers to develop data-driven applications and services.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain applications across both front-end and back-end components.
- Implement well-defined features, bug fixes, and product improvements with guidance from experienced engineers.
- Contribute to code reviews, testing, and engineering best practices to build reliable, maintainable software.
- Work with APIs, databases, and data pipelines to transform device-generated data into valuable customer insights.
- Collaborate closely with the Engineering team, ask questions, learn continuously, and progressively take ownership of technical tasks.
Requirements
- A solid foundation in software development through university studies, a bootcamp, personal projects, or early professional experience.
- Experience with Git and familiarity with at least one of the following technologies: React, TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, or AWS.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to code quality, testing, and creating a great user experience.
- Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate in an international, remote-first environment.
- Valid work authorization in the EU or Switzerland.
- Based in Spain, Portugal, or Croatia (preferred).
- Fluent English (C1 or higher).
Nice to Have
- Previous internship, freelance work, startup, or open-source experience.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Interest in IoT, data products, sustainability, or food waste reduction.
- Basic understanding of UX/UI principles.
