Role Overview
Landseek AI is looking for a GIS Engineer Intern to help build and maintain the spatial data layers powering Landseek. At Landseek, maps are structured intelligence layers that power land discovery, title diligence, and valuation workflows. We need someone who approaches GIS from a data engineering and automation perspective, owning real datasets and pipelines that ship to production.
Responsibilities
- Build the Spatial Layer: Structure and manage GIS datasets inside databases to ensure they are optimized, queryable, and scalable.
- Clean & Standardise: Transform raw GIS data into production-ready formats, standardizing projections and attribute schemas.
- Parse & Scrape: Reverse-engineer schemas of GIS portals and map repositories to collect data programmatically.
- Automate the Refresh: Build ingestion and monitoring pipelines to keep datasets fresh as state portals change.
- Spatial Analysis: Run spatial queries, build overlays and zoning layers, and support internal teams with custom spatial requests.
- Assess Usability: Evaluate datasets for completeness, accuracy, and structural gaps.
Requirements
- Experience with GIS (Students and new grads welcome).
- Ability to work independently and connect dots across fragmented datasets.
- A builder mindset with experience in side projects, scrapers, or open data experiments.
- Comfortable with the speed and pivots of a seed-stage startup.
- Strong collaborative skills and high EQ.
Skills
- QGIS
- ArcGIS
- Mapbox
- Python
- SQL
Nice to Have
- Python scripting for data transformation (GeoPandas, GDAL/OGR, Shapely).
- Exposure to scraping frameworks and pipeline automation.
- Degree or coursework in Geomatics, GIS, Civil, or Computer Science.
- Showcaseable GIS or spatial data projects.
Benefits
- Directly work with a team of engineers from IITs and leading Tech companies.
- Production ownership from week one.
- Clear path to a full-time offer for high-performing interns.
- Monthly compensation of ₹20,000 – ₹30,000.
