Job Description
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced L3 Application Support Engineer with strong Java Development expertise to support and enhance mission-critical applications for a leading global investment banking client. This role combines production support, incident management, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, automation, and hands-on Java development. Candidates will be expected to resolve complex production issues while actively contributing to code enhancements, bug fixes, and application reliability improvements.
Responsibilities
- Provide L3 support for business-critical applications in production.
- Troubleshoot high-severity incidents, perform RCA, and implement permanent fixes.
- Monitor application health, performance, and availability.
- Develop and maintain applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Build code fixes, enhancements, REST APIs, and backend services.
- Analyze logs, system metrics, and application performance issues.
- Support deployments, releases, and automation initiatives.
- Work closely with Development, Infrastructure, DevOps, and Business teams.
- Participate in on-call support and ITIL-based incident/problem management.
Requirements
- 4-8 years of experience in Application Support and Java Development.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
- Excellent Java coding skills (Mandatory).
- Strong understanding of OOP, Collections, Multithreading, and Design Patterns.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging Java applications.
- Strong SQL knowledge including Joins, Aggregations, Subqueries, and Indexing.
- Good Unix/Linux knowledge including grep, find, ps, chmod, tail, log analysis, and basic shell scripting.
- Experience with REST APIs and distributed applications.
Nice to Have
- Investment Banking / Financial Services domain experience.
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
- AWS Cloud exposure.
- Kafka, MQ, RabbitMQ.
- Monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ELK, or Grafana.
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes.
