Role Overview
The Storage and Backup Infrastructure Junior Engineer is responsible for delivering advanced Tier1/ Tier 2 support for the organization’s storage and backup environments. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of critical storage and backup systems by proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues. The engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to minimize service interruptions and maintain high data availability and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Implement and manage storage solutions including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage environments.
- Monitor performance and capacity to identify bottlenecks and forecast future needs.
- Administer storage arrays, including zoning, LUN provisioning, and volume management.
- Diagnose and resolve complex storage-related problems and connectivity issues.
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching for storage hardware and operating systems.
- Manage enterprise backup software such as Cohesity and Veritas NetBackup.
- Ensure data integrity and implement data protection and retention policies.
- Conduct data recovery operations and perform routine restore tests.
- Handle escalations for complex issues.
Requirements
- 3-4 years of experience in storage and backup engineering or administration.
- 2-3 years of experience with modern storage solutions like NetApp, Dell, Pure, Infinidat and cloud storage technologies.
- 2-3 years of hands-on expertise with enterprise backup software such as Cohesity or Rubrik.
- 2-3 years experience in virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere.
- 2-3 years of experience with storage protocols, including Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3, and iSCSI.
- 1-2 years of experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
- 1-2 years of experience with system administration for Windows and Linux/Unix environments.
- 1-2 years of experience with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or JIRA.
