Role Overview
Finicity, a Mastercard company, is leading the Open Banking Initiative to increase the Financial Health of consumers and businesses. The Data Science and Analytics team is looking for a Data Scientist II to work on Intelligent Decisioning, Financial Certainty, and more. The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who is passionate about leveraging data to provide high-quality customer solutions and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset.
Responsibilities
- Manipulate large data sets and apply technical and statistical analytical techniques such as OLS, multinomial logistic regression, LDA, clustering, and segmentation.
- Apply Machine Learning (SVM, Random Forest, XGBoost, LightGBM, CATBoost) and Deep Learning (LSTM, RNN, Transformer) techniques and LLMs to solve analytical problems.
- Design and implement machine learning models for financial applications including Transaction Classification, Temporal Analysis, and Risk modeling.
- Measure, validate, implement, monitor, and improve performance of internal and external facing machine learning models.
- Propose creative solutions to existing challenges and present technical findings to business leaders and clients.
- Leverage best practices in Machine Learning and Data Engineering to develop scalable solutions.
Requirements
- 3-5 years in data science/ machine learning model development and deployments.
- Strong understanding of NLP, Statistical Modeling, Visualization, and advanced Data Science techniques.
- Ability to gain insights from text and use annotation thought processes in text analysis.
- SQL / Database experience is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Containers, Docker, REST APIs, or Event Streams.
- Familiarity with GenAI, LLMs, Agentic AI, TensorFlow, Python, Sklearn, and Pandas.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Exposure to financial transactional data, transaction classification, and credit risk modeling is a plus.
