Role Overview
Mastercard powers economies and empowers people in 200+ countries and territories worldwide. As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, and delivery of software solutions, defining requirements for new applications and customizations while adhering to industry standards, processes, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Own software delivery tasks including code development, testing, and deployment at an application or software component level.
- Participate in team prioritization discussions with Product and Business stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot and refactor existing code.
- Adopt new languages and architecture patterns as required.
- Influence team decisions and assist peers and less experienced members.
- Demonstrate active learning and share software practices via Guild or Engineering community initiatives.
- Assist in technical documentation of APIs and services.
Requirements
- Ability to write secure code in three or more languages (e.g., Java, C#, JavaScript, SQL).
- Familiarity with secure coding standards such as OWASP, CWE, or SEI CERT.
- Understanding of standard branching practices like Gitflow and peer review processes.
- Experience applying tools like Sonar, Zally, or Checkmarx to measure code quality.
- Ability to build test code at unit, service, and integration levels.
- Knowledge of design patterns (e.g., Factory, Singleton, Strategy).
- Understanding of SDLC practices including Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automation, pipelines, virtualization, and containerization.
- Ability to write automation scripts in languages such as Python, Bash, or Groovy.
