Software Engineer(Intern)- Backend

Role Overview

Merkle Science provides blockchain transaction monitoring and intelligence solutions for web3 companies, digital asset service providers, financial institutions, law enforcement and government agencies to detect, investigate and prevent illicit use of cryptocurrencies. We are looking for a Software Engineer(Intern)- Backend to help build infrastructure for the safe and compliant growth of cryptocurrencies.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs using Python(Django/FastAPI)
• Write efficient queries and manage data models in PostgreSQL
• Work with Redis for caching, queues, and improving service performance
• Collaborate with frontend and QA engineers to ship end-to-end features
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate in code reviews
• Debug and optimize existing services for performance and scale
• Work with large datasets related to blockchain transactions

Requirements

• Final year (graduating 2027) B.Tech/B.E./Dual Degree students from IIT / NIT / IIIT only
• CSE, IT, or closely related computer science branches only
• Strong fundamentals in Python and object-oriented programming
• Understanding of Django/FastAPI or any Python web framework
• Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
• Basic understanding of caching concepts and tools like Redis
• Understanding of REST API design principles
• Strong problem-solving and DSA fundamentals
• Familiarity with Git
