Backend Developer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain the server-side systems that power our e-commerce platform and internal tools. You will work closely with the frontend, design, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing applications, taking ownership of APIs, databases, and third-party integrations end to end.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js (Express.js/NestJS) and Laravel (PHP)
• Architect solutions following MVC principles and established backend design patterns
• Design, optimise, and manage relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), including schema design and query performance
• Implement caching mechanisms and message queues to improve application performance and reliability
• Integrate third-party services and APIs (payments, logistics, communication tools, etc.)
• Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure smooth frontend–backend integration and adherence to API best practices
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues with a strong focus on root-cause analysis
• Participate in code reviews, maintain clean version-controlled code (Git), and follow Agile/Scrum workflows
• Contribute to technical documentation and continuous improvement of development processes

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (Node.js)
• Practical experience with Express.js or NestJS
• Practical experience with Laravel and PHP
• Good understanding of MVC architecture and common backend design patterns
• Hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases
• Solid understanding of RESTful API development
• Experience using Git/version control
• Basic understanding of caching mechanisms and message queues
• Experience integrating with third-party services and APIs
• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum workflows
• Understanding of frontend–backend integration and API best practices
