Role Overview
The AI Application Developer II owns the backend services and data ingestion pipelines that power the COE's AI platform. You build the systems that extract, transform, and index operational data from ERP systems, document archives, quality databases, and other enterprise sources — making it structured, queryable, and accessible to AI agents and applications in real time.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data ingestion pipelines from ERP systems, document archives, and operational databases
- Implement structured data extraction from PDFs, technical documents, and unstructured sources
- Build and maintain backend services that power AI applications across the platform
- Manage the unified knowledge layer — graph store, vector index, and structured database
- Develop asynchronous document processing pipelines that handle ingestion at enterprise scale
- Implement access control, audit logging, and data security in line with compliance requirements
- Write comprehensive backend tests and maintain clear API and pipeline documentation
Requirements
- 4–6 years of backend engineering experience in Python or Node.js
- Demonstrated experience building ETL or data ingestion pipelines in production environments
- Proficiency in SQL and PostgreSQL; experience with graph databases is a plus
- Familiarity with document parsing, OCR, and extraction from unstructured sources
- Understanding of data security practices in enterprise or regulated environments
- Ability to work across messy, heterogeneous data sources and produce clean, reliable outputs
