Job Description
Role Overview
As a Calibration Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for developing and implementing algorithms to accurately calibrate camera systems for optimal image quality and geometric precision. This 6-month internship is ideal for freshers with a background in optical or optomechanical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Develop new testers and critical optical components to meet design requirements for calibration and test.
- Participate in pre-flight calibration including geometrical, spatial, and radiometric calibration, aberration characterisation, and stray light tests.
- Develop and lead alignment and integration of the payload to the bus.
- Develop and deploy software that calibrates and tests imaging systems.
- Assist in commissioning and in-flight calibration.
- Analyse volume data to provide mentorship on engineering decisions.
- Assist QA in formulating milestone-based checks and verification procedures for the payload.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Mechanical, Optical, or Quality Engineering.
- Background with optical or optomechanical assemblies.
- Strong analytical and mathematical acumen with understanding of camera models and calibration algorithms.
- Ability to read and interpret data, information, and documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in an optical laboratory and familiarity with optical metrology tools.
- Deep understanding of imaging systems and camera technology.
- Experience in lens characterisation methodology and calibration.
- Knowledge of thermal properties, space-qualified materials, and adhesives.
- Experience with test plans and procedures for spacecraft environmental tests.
- Familiarity with quality standards defined by space agencies.
