Software Engineer

Role Overview

As a Software Engineer at Principal Financial Group, you will be at the forefront of crafting innovative and high-performance software solutions. Your role will involve crafting, developing, and implementing software that drives our products. You will work in close collaboration with our product development team to understand user needs and translate them into flawless technical specifications. Ensuring our software products are scalable, reliable, and efficient will be key to your success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front end applications using React, TypeScript, Next and related frameworks.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and debugging.
• Collaborate with team members to analyze requirements, design solutions, and deliver features on time.
• Assist in bug fixing, performance tuning, and application enhancements.
• Document technical solutions and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience.
• Bachelor’s (Engineering)/Master’s in computer science or a related field.
• Deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience in TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, and proficiency in AWS cloud services.
• Expertise in React.js components, hooks, and state management.
• Strong typing, interfaces, and generics in TypeScript.
• Next.js SSR, SSG, routing, and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of UI Best Practices, responsive design, and accessibility (WCAG basics).
• Testing experience with Jest and React Testing Library.
• Proficiency in AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Eventbridge, API Gateway, Step Function, and CloudWatch.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
