Role Overview
Qualcomm is a pioneer in silicon and software technologies for consumer electronics and a global leader in wireless innovation. We are looking for Audio DSP / Embedded Software Engineers based in Bangalore to work on next-generation voice and music solutions. The role involves designing, developing, porting, integrating, and optimizing audio codecs on ARM and HiFi DSP platforms. You will work as part of the DSP team on codec libraries, DSP frameworks, and system-level audio pipelines, integrating audio algorithms into production platforms and enabling end-to-end audio use cases.
Responsibilities
- Developing high-quality embedded DSP software for voice and music products.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
- Supporting customer requirements and contributing to project planning and execution.
- Creating and maintaining engineering documentation.
- Contributing to Qualcomm’s intellectual property, including support for patent submissions.
- Optimizing code for execution speed (MCPS), code size, heap/stack memory usage, latency, and power consumption.
- Profiling and debugging audio behavior on real hardware platforms.
Requirements
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience in embedded/DSP audio development.
- Experience in audio codec development and integration (e.g., AAC, LC3, SBC, CVSD).
- Hands-on experience working on ARM and HiFi DSP platforms.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Strong foundation in audio signal processing and codec fundamentals (MDCT, quantization, psychoacoustics, bitstream structures).
- Experience with fixed-point arithmetic and performance-critical embedded code.
- Engineering degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Knowledge of RTOS concepts such as tasks, queues, semaphores, and scheduling.
- Familiarity with digital audio interfaces and formats (PCM, I2S, SPDIF).
