Role Overview

Qualcomm is seeking innovative engineers for the systems engineering team to contribute to the evolution of 3G, 4G, 5G, WLAN, and satellite communications technologies. This role involves developing a deep understanding of wireless communication problems through data-driven analysis and shepherding solutions from the lab to real-world deployment, specifically focusing on 3GPP/3GPP2 physical layer specifications and WWAN modem baseband algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Design WWAN modem baseband algorithms and perform subsequent performance characterization and fixed-point design.
• Conduct theoretical and computer-aided analysis for wireless communication systems.
• Participate actively in design and review sessions.
• Contribute to Qualcomm's IP portfolio and technical specifications for proprietary or public air interfaces.
• Provide systems support for implementation and validation.

Requirements

• Knowledge of PHY and MAC Layers.
• Understanding of Information theory, Coding theory, Adaptive filtering, Signal Detection and Estimation, and Digital Communications.
• Familiarity with 3GPP/3GPP2 standards.
• Experience with modem algorithms design, including channel estimation, advanced receivers, and decoders.
• Knowledge of OFDMA and CDMA based FDD/TDD systems.
• Familiarity with networking protocols such as RLC, PDCP, RRC, S1, X2, IP, UDP, TCP, and HTTP.
• Ability to work on UNIX, Windows, or Linux computing platforms.
