Role Overview

Qualcomm is looking for innovative engineers in the areas of wireless communications and signal processing to join the systems engineering team. This role involves developing a deep understanding of problems through data-driven analysis and contributing to the evolution of 3G, 4G, 5G, WLAN, and satellite communications technologies. You will be responsible for designing WWAN modem baseband algorithms, performance characterization, and fixed-point design and validation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in systems engineering activities related to 3GPP/3GPP2 physical layer specifications.
• Design WWAN modem baseband algorithms and perform subsequent performance characterization.
• Conduct theoretical and computer-aided analysis.
• Participate in design and review sessions.
• Contribute to Qualcomm's IP portfolio and technical specifications for air interfaces.
• Provide systems support for implementation.

Requirements

• Knowledge of PHY and MAC Layers.
• Understanding of Information theory, Coding theory, Adaptive filtering, Signal Detection and Estimation, and Digital Communications.
• Familiarity with 3GPP/3GPP2 standards.
• Experience with modem algorithms design, including channel estimation, advanced receivers, and decoders.
• Understanding of interference and mobility management in radio access networks.
• Familiarity with OFDMA and CDMA based FDD/TDD systems.
• Knowledge of RLC, PDCP, RRC, S1, X2, IP, UDP, TCP, and HTTP protocols.
• Familiarity with UNIX, Windows, or Linux computing platforms.
