Network Security Engineer I (Palo Alto)

Role Overview

Rackspace Cyber Defence is our next generation cyber defence and security operations capability that builds on 20+ years of securing customer environments to deliver proactive, risk-based, threat-informed and intelligence driven security services. Our purpose is to enable our customers to defend against the evolving threat landscape across on-premises, private cloud, public cloud and multi-cloud workloads. Our goal is to go beyond traditional security controls to deliver cloud-native, DevOps-centric and fully integrated 24x7x365 cyber defence capabilities that deliver a proactive , threat-informed , risk-based , intelligence-driven approach to detecting and responding to threats.

Responsibilities

• Monitor customer network and security environments to ensure availability, performance, and security.
• Perform continuous monitoring of firewall and Azure networking alerts/events and respond according to operational procedures.
• Handle customer incidents, requests, and service tickets within agreed SLAs.
• Take care first-level troubleshooting for firewall, connectivity, routing, and security-related incidents.
• Acknowledge standard operational tasks, service requests, and pre-approved changes following the established process.
• Escalate unresolved or complex issues to L2/L3 teams with complete diagnostic details.
• Maintain documentation of incidents, requests, changes, and customer communications.
• Assist with routine health checks and operational reporting activities.
• Follow-up incident, problem, change, and maintenance management processes.
• Participate in shift-based operations and provide support during planned maintenance windows.
• Coordinate with customers and internal teams to provide timely issue updates and resolution status.

Requirements

• 3–6 years of experience in Network Security Operations.
• Basic to intermediate hands-on experience with:
  • Palo Alto Networks Firewalls and Panorama
  • FortiGate Firewalls and FortiManager
  • Remote VPN (Global Protect & Forti-connect)
  • Microsoft Azure Networking (VNets, Subnets, NSGs, Route Tables, Load Balancers)
  • Good to have understanding on monitoring tool “Solarwind, PRTG, Strata, or any”
• Good Understanding of:
  • Firewall policy management
  • NAT, routing, VPN technologies
  • TCP/IP, networking fundamentals and Protocols
  • Packets level and initial troubleshooting
• Experience working with ticketing and monitoring tools.
• Basic understanding of cloud security and Azure infrastructure.
