About the Role Restate builds a lightweight runtime that turns AI agents, workflows, and backend services into durable processes — so engineering teams can focus on business logic rather than failure mechanics. The runtime is already in production at Fortune 500 enterprises, Tier 1 banks running critical financial workflows, and frontier AI startups building production-grade agents. As the founding Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll define how this function works — the PoC playbook, the path-to-production patterns, the reusable enablement assets, and the feedback loop into product. You'll own the technical path from PoV/PoC enablement through production readiness and deployment. You'll work hands-on with customer engineers and OSS evaluators to make PoCs successful — integrations, reference implementations, architecture guidance, and "known-good" patterns. You'll drive the work to go from "PoC works" to "production-ready": Kubernetes, cloud setup, observability, networking and security integration, operational patterns, and rollout planning. You'll support discovery workshops and POV planning early, take part in escalation and on-call rotations for customer-critical issues, and feed friction and papercuts back into the engineering team — contributing directly to docs, examples, SDKs, and (where it makes sense) the core product.
