Role Overview
Sarvam is building the bedrock of Sovereign AI for India, developing a full-stack platform across research, models, infrastructure, and applications. As a Frontend Engineer, Vision, you will build the critical interfaces for document intelligence, including document viewers with field-level grounding, review and correction workflows, extraction schema builders, and evaluation dashboards. You will be the frontend owner, working closely with backend and applied AI engineers to build dense, stateful, and performance-sensitive UIs that enable human-in-the-loop interaction with vision-language models.
Responsibilities
- Build the document review experience including PDF and image rendering, page navigation, and bounding-box overlays.
- Develop human-in-the-loop correction workflows such as keyboard-driven review and field-level edits.
- Build extraction schema designers for defining and versioning structured output.
- Create internal evaluation and observability dashboards for accuracy, latency, and cost tracking.
- Manage real-time and long-running state including streaming partial results and job progress.
- Optimize frontend performance for heavy documents using virtualization, Canvas rendering, and lazy loading.
- Partner with backend engineers to shape API contracts.
- Set frontend standards for component architecture, typing, testing, and accessibility.
Requirements
- 4–5 years of experience building production frontend applications with strong ownership.
- Deep React.js expertise, including hooks, rendering behavior, and state management at scale.
- Strong TypeScript skills to ensure type safety and prevent bad states.
- Command of the browser platform, including layout, events, memory, and rendering, with comfort in Canvas or SVG.
- Experience building complex, data-dense product surfaces like dashboards, editors, or annotation tools.
- Solid API integration instincts involving async state, caching, polling, and streaming.
- Strong design sensibility to ship clean interfaces without pixel-perfect mocks.
Skills
- React.js
- TypeScript
- Canvas

- JavaScript
Nice to Have
- Experience with PDF.js or browser-based PDF rendering and annotation tools.
- Familiarity with WebSockets, SSE, or other streaming transports.
- Exposure to AI/ML product surfaces and human-in-the-loop tooling.
- Ability to work with Python or Go backends.
- Design systems ownership or strong accessibility practice.
