Mechanical & Thermal Design Engineer – XR Headset

Role Overview

A US-based technology company is hiring engineers in Mumbai to develop a next-generation immersive entertainment headset. We are looking for a Mechanical & Thermal Design Engineer who is passionate about designing physical products and wants to work on the actual body, internal structure, ergonomics and cooling architecture of an advanced XR headset.

Responsibilities

• Design the physical architecture, internal layouts, and mounting structures for the XR headset.
• Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and plastic components.
• Optimize ergonomics including weight balance, facial pressure distribution, and head strap geometry.
• Design thermal-management systems including heat sinks, graphite sheets, and airflow paths.
• Create and evaluate physical prototypes using 3D Printing, CNC, and Injection Molding.
• Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Conduct mechanical validation tests for durability, drop resistance, and thermal stability.

Requirements

• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, 3D-printing, or product-development projects.
• Knowledge of thermal management and heat dissipation techniques.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes like injection molding and tolerance stack-up.
