Role Overview
A US-based technology company is hiring engineers in Mumbai to develop a next-generation immersive 180° entertainment headset. We are looking for an Optics & Display Engineer who will help create the visual experience inside the headset. This role sits at the intersection of optics, displays, electronics, human vision and XR technology. You will work with high-resolution displays, pancake lenses and optical modules to achieve a sharp, comfortable and cinema-quality immersive viewing experience.
Responsibilities
- Research and evaluate high-resolution display technologies including Micro-OLED, OLED and fast LCD technologies.
- Evaluate and integrate optical systems including Pancake lenses, Aspheric lenses, Fresnel systems and other emerging XR optics.
- Optimize the headset for stereoscopic 180° movies, immersive video, sports, concerts, and live entertainment.
- Define lens alignment, display alignment, optical-axis alignment, and IPD geometry.
- Develop repeatable calibration processes involving distortion analysis and verification.
- Investigate visual quality issues such as blur, distortion, color mismatch, and chromatic aberration.
- Define optical cleaning procedures and assembly cleanliness standards.
- Interact with display and optics suppliers to request samples, compare modules, and review specifications.
- Participate in hands-on prototype builds with display modules and lens assemblies.
Requirements
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc./M.Tech in Optics, Photonics, Applied Physics, Electronics, ECE, Instrumentation or related discipline.
- Strong foundation in Geometric optics and Physical optics.
- Understanding of Imaging systems and Display technology.
- Knowledge of Photometry and Color science.
- Familiarity with Optical measurement and Image processing.
