PERN Stack Developer Intern(Unpaid)

Role Overview

As a PERN Stack Developer Intern (Unpaid) at Small Fare, you will support the design, development, and maintenance of web applications using PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, and Node.js. This is a fully remote internship offering flexible learning opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to real-world product development in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building APIs and implementing front-end components.
• Integrate databases and improve application performance.
• Fix bugs and maintain web applications across portfolio platforms.
• Collaborate with senior developers and product stakeholders.
• Participate in code reviews and document technical features.
• Help test new releases.

Requirements

• Foundational knowledge of the PERN stack and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and basic web application architecture.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, responsive design, and modern front-end tooling.
• Basic experience with Git and version control workflows.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and follow documentation practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Enrollment in or completion of a relevant Computer Science or Engineering program is beneficial.
