AI Engineering Intern

Role Overview

SpotDraft is looking for curious, technically strong interns to join the AAI Pod to build AI-powered products like Sidebar and VerifAI. As an AI Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to real production AI systems, shipping code that processes legal documents, supports retrieval pipelines, and helps measure the quality of LLM outputs in a fast-moving startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement and iterate on prompts for legal document workflows including summarization and clause extraction.
• Integrate LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini into product features.
• Assist in building and testing retrieval pipelines using chunking strategies, hybrid search, and reranking.
• Work with vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, or pgvector.
• Write evaluation scripts to measure model output quality, accuracy, and hallucination rates.
• Write clean, tested Python code and help maintain monitoring dashboards for latency and token usage.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a B.Tech / M.Tech / MS in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field.
• Strong Python skills with the ability to write clean, readable code.
• Basic familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or Llama).
• Foundational understanding of transformers, attention, embeddings, and tokenization.
• Awareness of context engineering and prompt/response structures.

Nice to Have

• Personal projects or open-source contributions involving LLMs, RAG, or NLP.
• Exposure to agentic frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or CrewAI.
• Familiarity with vector databases and semantic search concepts.
• Experience with evaluation frameworks or synthetic test data.
