Mobile Data Visualization Engineer - Interactive Technical Charts

Role Overview

Join Synmatch AI's client on the founding engineering team building the next generation of power-quality analysis software. As a Mobile Data Visualization Engineer, you will own the visualization layer, creating high-performance, interactive technical charts for smartphones and tablets that support field workflows and offline-first operations for professionals.

Responsibilities

• Implement level-of-detail downsampling, viewport culling, and sub-pixel zoom/pan to make large datasets feel light at interactive frame rates.
• Build complex PQ vocabulary including oscillographic waveforms, RMS-vs-time strip charts, harmonic spectrum bars, phasor diagrams, and heatmaps.
• Design analysis-grade interactions such as smooth pinch/scroll, crosshair readouts, brush-to-zoom, and synchronized cursors.
• Ensure visual precision with accessible color palettes, contrast, and expert-focused typography.
• Profile relentlessly using performance benchmarking to optimize the metrics footprint.
• Operate the chart engine, including participating in on-call rotations for rendering and performance regressions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in custom chart engineering beyond standard off-the-shelf library configurations.
• Deep understanding of interaction design (zoom, pan, brush, drill-down).
• Discipline in managing large-dataset performance (LOD, viewport culling, frame-time budgets).
• Ability to balance visual taste with engineering rigor, moving between design tools and profilers.
• Operational ownership mindset for the rendering layer you build.
• A listener mindset to understand how expert users interact with data.
