Machine Learning Operations Engineer Intern

Role Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic MLOps Intern to join the IRAS (Item Recognition as a Service) team within the Intelligent Store Execution Engine (ISEE) platform at Walmart/Sam's Club. This internship is ideal for students, recent graduates, and aspiring professionals who want to gain hands-on experience in building and managing end-to-end MLOps pipelines, production-grade machine learning systems, and cloud-based ML infrastructure. You will work closely with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and Platform teams to build scalable machine learning solutions supporting computer vision and intelligent retail applications.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete MLOps lifecycle from data ingestion to model deployment, monitoring, and retraining.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ML pipelines.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines for machine learning workflows.
• Implement model monitoring, drift detection, and performance tracking.
• Productionize and optimize data science code.
• Enable model versioning, reproducibility, and governance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize MLOps best practices.
• Support multiple ML products and initiatives simultaneously.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with end-to-end MLOps lifecycle
• Excellent Python programming skills
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines for ML systems
• Strong knowledge of Machine Learning fundamentals
• Experience with MLflow and/or Kubeflow
• Cloud experience (GCP preferred, Azure also acceptable)
• SQL and Big Data technologies (Spark, Databricks, etc.)
• Docker & Kubernetes
• Shell scripting
• Experience supporting production ML platforms
